That time the lights went out

So the power going out is not something new, we've had this happen multiple times before. But this time, the electric company actually shut off the power because the transformer needed replacing. Early yesterday (Oct. 3rd) the lights were acting funny and there was a buzzing noise. Turns out this happened to several people in our neighborhood, so the fire dept. came and checked it out then called NES to shut it off.

When the truck came to our cul-de-sac, we watched them check the transformer, then we talked to them and they confirmed it was to be replaced. The guys were very nice and explained everything to us and the kids and we didn't have anything better to do with no power, so we sat outside and watched them replace it. I thought this was really neat simply b/c I've never seen it done before and thought it was a good learning opportunity for the kids. So an ordinary evening with no power turned into a kind of fun, interesting night!
