See? Who can complain, right?! Daniel got up and helped with breakfast for the kids then we headed for the beach. It was overcast and the forecast called for rain, so we left our umbrellas upstairs. What do you know, the sun came out! Happy birthday to me!
Initially Maggie did not like the beach and started screaming. She calmed down for awhile when I gave her toys but this only lasted so long and she started back up. Daniel took her back to
the condo so I could enjoy the beach and reported later that she calmed down
upon their return. We think she was hot and didn't like the sand. He took the
opportunity to buy my birthday cake.
After the beach reprieve, Maggie was in much better spirits. She even let daddy feed her lunch! Again, happy birthday to me. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind feeding Maggie but if I'm around, she pretty much doesn't let Daniel help feed her. If I'm gone, she will, but not in my presence. We don't get it, but she must have enjoyed her morning daddy time.
When lunch ended, Maggie took her nap and Daniel planned to stay in the condo again. I wanted him to enjoy some swimming with Will, so he went down to the pool with Will. He didn't want to leave me alone in the condo too long (even though I was enjoying a good book) so we swapped out after a short time. After more beach time we returned to the condo to prepare for my birthday dinner- Italian, of course. Naturally, I had to take some pictures then off we went.
I did rather enjoy my birthday dinner and was happy to return to my strawberry shortcake and gifts. Daniel did such a good job with everything, but sadly forgot a lighter or matches. After some deliberation and searching, he just ran to a store so he could light my candles. There were only two -- I've never been very good at blowing out all the cake candles in one turn so I joked he did this to save my embarrassment, but he insisted it was more poignant with the big 3-0 there. My parents sent gifts with Rob- a couple movies and a wall quote, Rob & Kyle gave me a Hobby Lobby gift card- always a good choice for me and Daniel bought the Cricut design studio- a long awaited piece of software for my Cricut. I had a great birthday. I missed those I couldn't share the day with, but very much enjoyed my birthday on the beach!
