I wanted to visit a nearby town called Seaside, especially to visit their food trucks and because the Truman Show was filmed there. The initial plan was to go in the evening for dinner, but Daniel and I decided it would be easier to get dressed and go in the morning rather than going to the beach, cleaning up afterward and heading over. So we did.
Day 5: Thurs, 10/5/17. Morning in Seaside, afternoon on the beach. I enjoyed our little visit to Seaside but boy was everything expensive here. We walked into a clothing shop and I think it was a long sleeved t-shirt that was like $70. This lady kept staring at me with the kids so I left. And I did not expect the food trucks to be so pricey either. Will's chili cheese hot dog was $10. It was big, so Daniel had to finish it for him. The coolest part of the day was a dragon fly landing in Daniel's beard.
Allie knew which donut she wanted- peanut butter chocolate- a girl after her mama's heart!
After our expensive lunch we were ready to head back to the beach. Maggie climbed a sand mountain and then was buried in the sand. Daniel & Will went out pretty far since the water was much calmer this day and we really enjoyed our afternoon at the beach -one of our favorite times to be out.
Day 6, Fri., 10/6/17. Our last day at the beach. Also the day the guys went deep sea fishing and everyone got sick (well felt nauseous anyway). The trip was originally scheduled for Wed, but the company rescheduled due to weather but from the sounds of it, this was not a great day to go either. Will felt sick pretty much the whole time but Jake was a trooper, just walking around the boat no problem apparently.
I was the first one at the beach of our group but took a longer break at lunch than I expected b/c Allie fell asleep and I thought the boys would be back much sooner than they were. Still, we spent a little more time at the beach when they returned before everyone went up to grill the fish and prepare sides. It was a good last day, but always sad to leave.
There was a nice little tide pool on the beach so the girls played in that a lot but from time to time, Maggie would still sneak off to the waves, which were kind of rough again. Below: Allie pretending to be a catch scratching herself. This girl.
What a great week we had with our family and our friends, doing life together! I hope we can make this an annual thing, it was just a great trip.
