The Year of Bronze

Bronze is the traditional gift for the 8th anniversary and represents beauty and durability. I can see that. After 8 years, I could liken our marriage to those qualities. Or at least Daniel....he's my better half and I think I got the better deal. :)
Last Tuesday was the big day and for the first time in at least three years, we spent some alone time on our anniversary. Daniel surprised me with a date night! A week prior, he searched for babysitters and lucked up with his dad and step-mom. Now, this is a huge deal already-- a week before?! Daniel is not much of a planner. He prefers to leave those details to me. We ate at Demos'... maybe one day I'll tell you the whole story of how we met, but this is sort of where it all began. We didn't eat at the same location where we met all those years ago, but the sentiment is still there. Then we watched Iron Man 3 at the theater down the street from Demos'. And I risk sounding a little old or uncool, but I cannot believe how much those movies tickets cost...oh my word. That's all I'll say. You probably know better than me anyway. We really enjoyed the movie and I saw a poster in the lobby for the next Thor movie. November. Check.
I digress. I wanted to get my hair cut and styled, but it didn't work out so I did it myself. Not the same, but at least I looked like more than just a mom for our date night. :)
The kiddos were already asleep when we got home but Maggie woke up later just to say hi. My FIL told us they behaved well (always a relief) but they missed mommy at bed time. My little sweets. The kids were happy to see us the following morning and told us they had fun with Papa & Omi and all the things they did. It was nice to get away with just Daniel and have a chance to "miss" the kids. Happy 8th anniversary, babe! I love ya more everyday.
We didn't take a picture on our anniversary, but here's a throwback to one of first pics...
