Oasis of the Seas - Day 3

Labadee Haiti/At Sea

We were supposed to dock in Labadee, Haiti today which is Royal Caribbean's private island.  However, upon arrival to the port, the captain came over the intercom and advised us we would not be able to disembark due to safety reasons. The swells were too high, already crashing on the dock and if we got any closer the boat would damage the dock and vice versa. Plus the dock simply wasn't safe with the waves crashing on it and a storm or at least rain appeared to be moving in on the island.

I was pretty disappointed because we were simply going to have a family beach day- no excursions- just fun and relaxing. They changed the onboard itinerary for the day, providing more activities to accommodate the change in plans. We headed for the pool after breakfast since that's what we were planning to do most the day anyway.

This happened to be the only time we swam the whole week, despite the incredible pools they had, esp for kids. Between kids club and other activities we did throughout the week, there wasn't time to also jump in the pool and the kids really didn't mind. Plus the water was pretty cold.

We swam for a good chunk of the morning then dried off and went to the Adventure Ocean Lab for family science where we made pink and green slime. Then we grabbed some lunch and watched Despicable Me 3 in the aquatheater before heading to the room for a nap. The big kids and I went to the Promenade to meet Poppy and Branch from Trolls while Daniel & Allie continued resting in the room. They came down right before the characters arrived.

Waiting to meet the Trolls made us late for dinner, but we went to the dining room where the surprisingly had not given away our table so we stayed to eat. We had a 7:30 showtime for the Oasis of Dreams Aqua Show, so dinner was a tight squeeze. The kids really enjoyed the show filled with acrobats, trapeze and divers. It was really cool.
