My Craft Room part 2

I'm not sure why projects always take a long time, but they do. They just do. At least at my house, I don't know about yours. I've talked about my craft room before and referred to my set-up in Birmingham, then my dreams for my craft space here in our new house. Well, this house isn't 'new to us' anymore. We've lived here almost 4 years now and my room still isn't complete! Something else always takes priority and it's not like the room is unusable.

A couple years ago, Daniel made a desk and bought me some organizing items I really liked and I thought we/I'd pick up momentum decorating, but it never happened. Aside from traveling to Canada for therapy, having another baby and other general life moments, one hold-up to completing my craft room was paint. It's a simple thing really, but since I'm using a closet, we have all the shelves to contend with. At first we thought we'd just be able to remove them and put them back up. Awhile ago we discovered that was not the case and it was likely we'd damage the wall tearing them out. I had talked to my mom about this a couple times and she told me I'd just have to paint around the shelves. Ugghhhhghgh. Especially now that I'm homeschooling, like when will I find time to do that?! So for my birthday this year, my parents gift to me was to come paint my room and help set it up.

This past week, we finally found time we could both do it. And Daniel was out of town, so it worked out that I had some company. I spent time cleaning out the room and de-cluttering, it had really gotten out of control since the last time I did it. My entire bedroom was filled with everything I removed from the craft room.
True 'before' pictures... abundant clutter and all. Then a 'before' pic with most of the junk out
They came after work Wednesday and dad took down the top parts of the shelves and mom and I got to work painting-- we didn't get much done while the kids were awake.

First coat of paint going up! I've always liked blue and for the last several years I've been obsessed with aqua and thought it would be nice to include it as an accent wall. The window wall is the perfect place because you see it first when you walk in and also the curtains will really pop.

I love it! And a nice, bright cream is going on the other walls then the first coat is done!

And it's finished! Woohoo!! Mom did most of the second coat on Thursday by herself. I was busy with the kids, especially doing school work and she said it was my gift anyway, so I didn't have to be in there. That sure was nice. And for the portion I did help, mom cut in while I used the roller, it was a nice change-- it's opposite when Daniel & I paint together.

Dad came by after work again to put the shelves back up then it was time to get everything back in and start decorating. So glad to finally have the room painted!

The following morning, I added some things and took a few more 'after' pictures.

And now Daniel gets to set up my computer again! Next up for me is sewing the curtains- most likely a valance. I already have the fabric. Plus I need to get a chair for my sewing table and also, I'd like to add little touches around the room like more pictures, wall quotes, etc. But it feels good to have this mostly finished and now onto the fun, final details. :) Thanks mom and dad!
