Soccer time!

Guess who decided to play soccer this season? Yep, Jaker Bo Baker! He's asked us a couple times after watching Will play and we made sure he wanted to do it then signed him up. He's still young, so we'll see how it goes but thought it was worth giving him a shot.

Will had to be his little mini-coach

He did pretty good at his first practice today and showed potential if he wants to keep going with soccer. Anyway, it was just so cute seeing him out there! Melted this mama's heart. :) I love my sweet Jakey and I love watching both my boys play soccer now!

President's Day

Daniel was off work Monday for President's Day so we took a little field trip to The Hermitage. It's nice having a president's home nearby especially for a homeschool field trip. Will has been here at least twice on school field trips and I actually took Will, Maggie & Jake here several years ago with a friend. But Daniel had never been with the kids and there's always something to learn.

We enjoyed a nice morning visiting the mansion and walking the grounds but one of these days I'd like to go by myself so I can read all the signs and really take my time. After a couple hours, the kids were winding down so we left for a late lunch.

Caribbean Cruise - Day 5

Wednesday, Feb. 8th

We spent some time sunbathing then Ginny & I got brunch while the guys ate at Guy Fieri's burger joint. Then we met back up and took a walk around the track... there was a dance party on the deck below so I did a little walking and dancing. :)

We had a fun, relaxing day, even went down the waterslide and took a dip in the hot tub. Then we enjoyed our last evening on board - they had a great goodbye show in the dining room, I loved it!

What can I say? I love sunsets.

There was also a ton of fog late that night, hard to believe the navigational crew was able to get us anywhere, it was thick! Also, I'm amazed I was able to fall asleep with that fog horn blaring every so often. :) We had a great trip and are so grateful we were able to take it and with our friends to boot! The following morning- Thursday the 9th, we got off the boat as quickly as we could- though it took forever. Then headed straight home to our kiddos! I'm not sure they even missed us, they had so much fun. :)

Caribbean Cruise - Day 4

Tuesday, Feb 7th

Progreso, Mexico. We didn't book any excursions today, instead Daniel and I enjoyed a relaxing day on the beach. Dan & Ginny went to the Mayan Ruins and we considered joining them since they're different ruins than we saw several years ago, but instead thought a hangout day would be nice.

When we docked, buses were available to take us into town. Once we hopped off the bus, we walked to the beach where we were greeted by a friendly guy offering us two shaded chairs for the whole day for $25. We took the deal and he came by every so often to brings us drinks or anything else. Renting these chairs also gave us access to the restaurant's restroom across from the beach.

The only downside to this deal was that every few minutes someone new was stopping by to sell us something. Nothing we really wanted and we didn't have cash anyway. This one girl broke my heart. She stopped by several times and the last time she kept saying "please lady, please lady." Goodness. I thought about her for days afterward! We could pay for the chairs and anything from the restaurant with a card. I ordered some nachos for lunch and they were amazing! Best nachos I've ever had. The chips were homemade, the guacamole was amazing and I'm not even a huge fan of guac. Man, I would've eaten several plates of those if I could.

We headed back to the ship a little earlier than we had to, but Daniel likes to beat the crowds coming in at the last minute. This gave him time to nap while I played some afternoon trivia. Then we met up with Dan & Ginny for dinner and enjoyed the evening with them, catching up and of course go to the piano bar. :)
