60th Birthday Extravaganza!!!!!!

My parents turn the big 60 this year! My brother contacted me about a party for them and we chose Memorial Day weekend for the big shindig. Since my Uncle Pete turned 60 this month and my parents have always been close to him and my Aunt Rose (they all celebrated 40 & 50 together as well), we included him on the celebration too! 

We held the party in Murfreesboro, so family drove down to celebrate with us. Which made the whole weekend a party really but we did the cakes on Saturday since my family was leaving for Utah. My siblings and I provided most of the food for the weekend, though Rose and mom did several items as well and some family brought things as well. It was a great time and I wish I could've stayed for all of it, but I heard everyone really enjoyed themselves.

Daniel's birthday

The hubs turned 35 today!! While most people begrudge getting older- the dreaded 30, 40, etc.- Daniel embraces it and in some ways looks forward to it. So mid-thirties doesn't bother him at all.

But he's not big on celebrating it. He really doesn't care about his birthday in terms of gifts, cake and the usual birthday hubabalooo, which has been kind of hard for me as one who loves to celebrate. So I've half given in...no big celebration, just dinner, and no gift...he can just get something he wants. But I couldn't let go of the cake.

So after work (yuck) I took him to Demos', his favorite restaurant, with the kids and invited his mom

 My birthday boy! Then back home for cake. Like I said, I just couldn't skip the cake. And that's pretty much all the kids think when they hear birthday so they were all "It's daddy's birthday/birfday/happyday, we get cake!!" So I went for a yummy DQ ice cream cake and all were pleased.

Awards Day & Last Day of School

Allie and I went to Will's awards day on the last full day of school. Today is a half day and another year bites the dust. 2nd grade over. Now I have a 3rd grader?!!!?! How is that possible?!!

Field Day

School years always seem to fly by. One minute, wow, I can't believe school is already back in session and the next minute, how is the year over already?! I feel this way every year and according to my parents, it only gets faster. So here we are at the end of another school year. The end of 2nd Grade. Already. Gracious these kids are growing up too fast!! School will be over next week but today was their annual field day; I couldn't spend the whole day with Will, but was able to be there for a little bit.
