Jake's 1st haircut!

Yesterday (3/30), Jake got his 1st haircut! Much like Will, this was long overdue. In my defense, I wanted to see Ginger, my hair stylist when I was younger and lived in Murfreesboro. After Will's hair was "ruined" last summer at Super Cuts, I was not about to go to a walk in place again. I'm trusting my kids' heads with Ginger, cause I know she does a good job. Will also needed a haircut, so this was two for one. Also, I originally scheduled this the week we got all the snow.

Before

Jake was unsure at first but once Ginger gave him a sucker he could eat while getting his hair cut, he was all about it :)

It's hard to get an after picture of a moving two year old, but he's so cute and of course looks just a little bit older. Enjoyed his long little boy hair and his cutie little boy hair cut now :)

Fundraisers

We're still in fundraising mode, getting ready to take Maggie to Health in Motion again, for three sessions (12 weeks) if we can raise enough. I've been working and held a couple fundraisers since we returned last fall and am wrapping up in with a couple more in March before we leave in April.

My friend offered to do a Pampered Chef fundraiser so I invited friends and family, a few came to my house where we fixed a meal with PC kitchen utensils and then they buy stuff and a portion goes to Maggie! This was on Thursday, March 12th. We had a lot of fun and even had a little chef in the kitchen with us :).

Then yesterday (Sat 3/28) we held a yard sale fundraiser-- it's the last Saturday in March and I leave in a week. I ended up getting the flu last week, but thanks to  my good friend, Ginny, tons of donated items came in and everything got set up. I took a few pictures of the items to post on Craigslist and Facebook for advertising purposes but didn't get any at the actual sale. Ugh! We were barely done setting up when people started arriving, then I was just too busy and forgot to take pics. My friend Ginny came out to work for a couple hours, my parents came and my aunt Patti and uncle Don. With Daniel and I, there were plenty of eyes and hands for the sale and the kids. It was sunny, but cold! Still, we raised $1200 for Maggie, so it was awesome! Thanks so much to everyone who came out to help, shop and donate items for us to sell. We really appreciate you!!

Will's front tooth

Will lost his first tooth (two teeth actually) in Kindergarten. The two front teeth on the bottom came out last year and have been replaced by permanent ones. But that's just the beginning, of course. For awhile now, Will has been telling me his top tooth is wiggly. I knew it was just a matter of time, so I got a few last pictures of his smile as is.
The first tooth is obviously the biggest deal, but you don't see your bottom teeth as much when you smile. SO it's the top teeth that really change your smile forever. Once the space between his teeth started spreading, I knew things were about to change as they always do. I got some pics of his "baby" smile that will be gone forever. (Yes, I'm always this dramatic)

And I'm glad I did because it was just a few days later that tooth got really wiggly and then came out! My little man is still such a good lookin' boy, but the lost tooth changes his smile/his look. He has an older look about him now I think. He's growing up! SO Fast!!

I guess we'll see if the permanent tooth comes in before he loses his other front tooth. All drama aside, it's sweet watching him grow up and reach milestones. Even these seemingly little ones (to most people, they're all big to me:)) They just never stop! Especially with multiple kids, things are always changing, moving, growing. It's a good thing. And I'm so grateful to have healthy, growing kids. Just bittersweet moments. Change always leads me to reflect and reminisce a little. But change is good and I do know that. I love you my little man!!! Even with one less tooth :)

Baby Allie- 7 months

My sweet baby girl, here we are again, another month older. Now you're past that half year mark and headed toward a year...still several months to go, but you're closer to being 1 than being a newborn. *Sigh, my last baby. Trying to soak it all in. All about you my little sweet pea Allie baby:

  • you are full on sitting up now and so cute! You love being able to sit on your own and look around, plus you have more access to your toys
  • I have moved you up to two cereal and fruit/veggie meals per day so you're going a little longer between meals now
  • tried letting you eat bananas on your own once, you just looked at them like "why aren't you in my mouth?!"
  • you have been chewing and drooling for awhile, but you're having some discomfort with your gums so teeth may be on their way
  • It was hard to put away all those 0-3 month clothes 'cause they're so cute, like I said, but it was time. 3-6 months are a good fit and size 1 diapers
  • It's so cute how you watch my mouth and try to grab at it- you're making new sounds, trying to learn how to say words, love it!

Bunk Beds

The boys finally got bunk beds! I'm happy about this for a couple reasons: 1. I didn't love the layout of Will's bed and Jake's toddler bed along with the mis-matched furniture and 2. A generous family member gave us the bunk beds and dresser so it was uber-budget friendly!!

God works like that sometimes. I had the choice to be patient or run out and buy bunk beds that weren't in our budget because I wanted them and disliked the room layout. I decided to wait and Daniel agreed and barely a month later we were contacted about some bunk beds. And here we are! Everyone loves them. :)
