The Volunteer State

Two weeks ago today we unloaded the trucks (and multiple cars) at the new house and have been crazy busy since then. Daniel took the first week off (aside from a few phone calls/meetings here and there) to get things settled. We closed on the house Monday following the move, officially making us "Nashvillians" and residents of the Volunteer State again.  Tuesday we went to Birmingham to see Maggie's physical therapist and doctor one more time, get the swing set and clean the house-- there just wasn't time after the load to clean it properly. Wednesday Daniel worked with his dad and uncle Mike on plans to network the house and the Comcast guy was here a good chunk of the day setting up our communication/entertainment hub- Daniel's primary area of concern. Plus I finally started making real progress unpacking boxes and made a really big dent by Friday. In between all that, we've been busy with regular life that includes raising 3 kids, plus making calls and getting things transferred up here and the seemingly unending boxes. Actually, I think I unpacked my last one yesterday, but don't hold me to that. We've also hosted lots of visitors (not including those who helped us move in): D's dad and uncle as mentioned above, my sister and kids, my sister-in-law and kids, my parents, neighbors and we've even been to a birthday party and the Opryland Hotel!

You know how I love to be busy! So many neighbors have introduced themselves and our super friendly neighbors across the cul-de-sac even brought us dinner as a housewarming/welcome gift! I can tell we'll get along already- she stays home, has a 5 and 2 year old, plus embroiders and loves to talk! We've already discussed trips to Hobby Lobby, which is right down the street, by the way. :)

So there's still plenty to do, as there always is with a new house- haven't even started hanging pictures- but we've gotten a lot done I think. I'm sure it will be awhile before we're completely settled. Even though we like all the colors (a big selling point for us b/c we don't love to paint), some painting will need to be done- such as Maggie's room. The Kleiners had 4 boys so not an ounce of pink. :) We'll go room by room to make it our own. I'm excited to get crafting and will post projects as they get done!
